The Long Island Pride celebration is set to return as an in-person event in June. The 2021 Pride Fest will take place at Eisenhower Park’s Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre on Sunday, June 13 from 12 to 4 p.m. News 12 is told it will be a ticketed event, with a limit of 500 people. “Our community spoke, we listened. More and more people are getting vaccinated, and we are going to have a live, in-person LI pride event this year,” says David Kilmnick, of the LGBT Network. “It is great to be back, and it’s going to be great to be together again. In 2020, the event was supposed to take place at Jones Beach but was canceled due to the pandemic and was held virtually. The area closest to the stage will be VIP tickets with a price tag of $75. Further away will be general admission tickets for $40. The LGBT Network will also require that people have the COVID-19 vaccine. The organization will be checking that on the day of the event. The event is also limited to ticket holders only. Proof of vaccination will be required for attendance, and CDC guidelines will be followed. “After a year of staying in, we are excited and thrilled to be OUT” says New York LGBT Network President and CEO David Kilmnick. “The return of Long Island Pride to an in-person event will bring the community together proudly and safely. People are ready for this and Pride is more than just an event; it’s a state of being, a beacon of hope and a powerful display of diversity and unity that is sorely needed in these times.” For those not able to attend, it will be livestreamed.
