In the wake of the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas (MSD) High School in Parkland, FL this year, students from the school organized to create a nationwide movement for youth safety in schools – and this effort is being led by students from the school’s Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) club. The LGBT Network is proud to announce that twenty-five students and 5 school officials from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School will be visiting Long Island to serve as Grand Marshals of the 28th Annual Long Island Pride Parade on Sunday, June 10, 2018 and to attend the special tribute taking place at the annual Pride on the Beach festival. The brave students plan to speak about their beloved teacher, Long Island native Scott Beigel, who gave his life in order to save his students. However, we need help to bring this brave, courageous, and resilient group of youth leaders and survivors to Long Island to be part of this historic tribute. Help get the MSD GSA youth survivors and advocates to Long Island Pride to be honored for building a national movement for youth safety in our schools. |

We need support for airfare, ground travel, lodging, and meals for their two-day trip.
Please consider a gift today. A gift of any size will help. These youth deserve to be recognized for standing-up for themselves and their peers – and for the 17 people tragically lost. Your donation will ensure these youth can attend and participate as Grand Marshals of Long Island Pride so that we can pay tribute to their activism. Please donate using the form below or contact the Development Department at 516-323-0011 or via e-mail at development@lgbtnetwork.org. |
