This workshop will explore the intersections of LGBT identities and immigration status in the United States. We will review the various immigration and asylum statuses and processes available to non-citizen residents. The most common needs of LGBT immigrants will be reviewed, and relevant resources will be shared. We will review cultural norms around sexual orientation and gender identity in immigrant communities and countries of origin. The implications of those norms for serving LGBT immigrants will also be discussed.
