Variety Children's Charity awards $5,000 Grant for LGBT Youth Arts Programming

A new arts program for LGBT youth on Long Island, made possible by a newly awarded grant from Variety the Children’s Charity of New York, will support a weekly two-hour program that combines visual and performance arts activities aimed at building leadership skills, and connecting the arts to social justice through the creation and production of projects that address topics of interest to LGBT youth and their allies. Funding for this Arts program builds on LGBT Network’s Stand Up/Speak Out, a multi-media visual and performance arts project that supports LIGALY’s Safe School Initiative (SSI) – a structured program that offers a broad base of services and programs to help students and staff to address homophobia, transphobia and bullying and to develop a school culture that fosters support, understanding, and respect for LGBT youth, families, and educators.  For more information, please call: 631.665.2300 or write to us at
