Dan Matos, MSW

Senior Director of Programs

Dan joined the LGBT Network in April 2017 as the Director of Programs.  In this position, he is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Program Department serving the LGBT community throughout the lifespan with social, support, empowerment, education, and advocacy programs.

Dan earned his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Stony Brook University and has since dedicated his career to providing direct care and support to underserved and disenfranchised populations living in Long Island.  He began providing counseling and support services to HIV-positive pediatric patients and high-risk adolescents at Stony Brook Hospital.  Over the course of his time at Stony Brook, Dan advanced his career to become the Administrator for the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, the Division of Adolescent Medicine, and the CODY Center for Autism.  In this capacity, Dan managed a large grant portfolio and developed numerous programs to serve those living with and at-risk for HIV/AIDS; as well as prevent high-risk adolescents from engaging in behaviors resulting in STDs and unplanned pregnancy.

In his free time, Dan enjoys long road trips with friends to explore new cities, as well as camping in the spring and fall months to embrace the beautiful landscapes of the northeast and the tranquility of nature.  He is also an avid golfer and skier when both weather and work schedules permit.
