Becoming Visible at Work – A TDOV Panel (Q-Center)
Monday, March 30, 2020 | 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM | LGBT Network Queens LGBT Center | 37-18 Northern Boulevard, Suite 107, Long Island City, NY 11101
Join us for a panel discussion on work issues for the Transgender community.
On Transgender Day of Visibility, transgender individuals are tasked with standing up and being seen. But does visibility come with a cost? For many transgender people, being out and visible in society often comes with some risk. This is particularly true in the workplace, where outness often means being vulnerable to discrimination or even tokenization. How do we negotiate the need to be seen as our true selves versus the need to protect ourselves from transphobia?
Join us at the LGBT Network Queens LGBT Center for this community discussion, where our panelists will share their experiences with navigating being out (or not) as trans at work.
