The Pride Empowerment Project (PEP) is a positive sexual health program for LGBT and ally youth ages 13-21. This vital initiative works to give youth the tools and skills necessary to take control of our sexual health and to live to our utmost potential, while giving PEPpers the opportunity for leadership development. Participants make new friends, increase knowledge regarding HIV and STIs, discuss pregnancy prevention, gain confidence in negotiating safer sex including the right to not have sex, and celebrate positive sexual health. Free pizza for all participants!
One component of the Pride Empowerment Project is the PEP Teams, a group of dedicated young leaders who work to bring change to our communities. Through weekly meetings, the PEP Teams offers youth leadership development while working as part of a team to spread information and awareness through outreach, and for many LGBT and ally youth, PEP Teams can highlight a resume or college application.
PEP Teams meets every thursday from 6 to 8 pm at the Center at Bay Shore.
