Marlon Riggs’ essay film TONGUES UNTIED gives voice to communities of black gay men, presenting their cultures and perspectives on the world as they confront racism, homophobia, and marginalization. The film was embraced by black gay audiences for its authentic representation of style, and culture, as well its fierce response to oppression. Come watch and discuss the film and its reflection of our current reality.

Black History Month Screening: “Stranger Inside” (IN-PERSON)
Tuesday, February 25, 6:00PM – 8:30PM, In-Person at the Queens LGBT Center
We will screen the film “Stranger Inside” This film is a powerful and affecting film about race, guns, feminism, violence, the prison system, motherhood, and white supremacy. It is an LGBT-themed film that doesn’t flaunt but also doesn’t downplay its queer characters. It lets them live without asking them to account for their behavior or become subservient to it. Join us for a screening and discussion in honor of Black History Month.
