The NY LGBT Network is launching its Pride Scholarship Fund, an initiative aimed at making the NY LGBT Network’s vital services and programs accessible to all, especially LGBT youth who face unique and often severe challenges.

    SUPPORT SERVICES FOR AN LGBT PERSON FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR
    Each Pride Scholarship Fund supports one youth or other community member with a full year of programming at our centers that are safe spaces for the LGBT community. You can determine how the scholarship will be used. For example, Scholarships can:

     

      • Help an LGBT youth to enjoy our youth social programs, annual talent competition, and other programming held at our centers

      • Support one older adult to access community-building programs

      • Provide a transgender person with social and support groups

      • Connect an LGBT person who always or often speaks Spanish with other Latinx community members

    NAME YOUR SCHOLARSHIP FUND
    You can name your Scholarship Fund in your own name, i.e., The Laura and Jenn Smith Scholarship Fund, or in someone’s memory, i.e., The John Doe Memorial Fund.

    THE IMPORTANCE OF THE PRIDE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
    LGBT people face unique challenges that can significantly impact their well-being. By sponsoring a Pride Scholarship Fund, you are helping to keep these life-saving programs free! Consider these sobering statistics:

     

      • LGBT youth are 2 to 3 times more likely to attempt suicide than their heterosexual peers

      • There are a lack of opportunities for LGBT people who often or always speak Spanish to find each other, build community, and access services

      • 48% of LGBT couples experience adverse treatment when seeking senior housing

      • 1 in 4 transgender adults say they have been physically attacked

    Pride Scholarship Funds address these challenges by ensuring the NY LGBT Network’s programs and services continue to provide crucial support and opportunities to build community.

    By sponsoring a Pride Scholarship, you’ll help fund:

     

      • Safe spaces for self-expression and identity affirmation

      • Mental health support through counseling and support groups

      • Educational and career development workshops

      • Community-building social events

      • Health and wellness resources tailored to LGBT needs

    Sponsorship Options:

     

      1. Annual Sponsorship: $1,500 per year

      1. Monthly Sponsorship: $125 per month

    Our Goal:
    We aim to provide 100 Pride Scholarships this year, especially sponsorships for youth. Your sponsorship will make a direct and meaningful impact on a member of the Pride Scholarship recipient’s life.
