Stuart H. Schoenfeld
Stuart H. Schoenfeld is a partner in the firm Capell Barnett Matalon & Schoenfeld, LLP with offices in Jericho, New York. Stuart earned his undergraduate degree from Brandeis University and his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law. Stuart has been practicing law in the New York metropolitan area for over twenty-five years. His areas of concentration include elder law and estate planning, including guardianship, estate administration and business, corporate and real estate transactions. Extensive elder care and estate planning practice includes preservation of assets for the benefit of developmentally delayed, chronically ill or elderly relatives, planning and applying for Medicaid, and the realization of such estate planning goals and objectives as the smooth transition of assets, minimizing estate tax obligations, and planning for business succession. Stuart lectures throughout the New York metropolitan area regarding special needs planning, Medicaid, estate planning issues and real estate. He is a member of the Elder Law Section of the New York State and the Nassau County Bar Associations and a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Stuart is a past president of the Association for Children with Down syndrome, an agency serving the needs of children and adults with Down syndrome, autism and other developmental disabilities and was honored at their 2013 gala for his years of dedication and leadership. He has also served many years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Merrick Jewish Centre. Stuart, along with the other members of his firm were honored on May 2, 2014 at the LGBT Network Gala for their work on behalf of the Network and the LGBT community.
